The Hernia Institute was created in 1997 to bring the advantages of Laparoscopic Hernia Surgery to the New York Capital District. We have a special interest in hernia surgery and are the only specialized hernia practice in the area. Approximately 300 hernias per year are repaired by the Hernia Institute.

In 2006, we expanded our practice to include surgical treatment of venous reflux (varicose veins) using Sclerotherapy, Phlebectomy, and the VNUS Closure Procedure.

In keeping with the latest advances in technology, Dr. Goldstein is now performing single incision laparoscopic surgery (SILS). This minimally invasive procedure allows operations such as appendectomy and gall bladder removal to be performed through a single incision in the belly button, leaving the patient with no visible scars. Dr. Goldstein is the first community surgeon to perform this revolutionary procedure in the New York Capital District.
